A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 355

Three weeks into Matilda's coma, Logan had become a nightly fixture by her bedside, recounting his day at school and sharing stories with the silent room. Today, he mentioned something that piqued Yvan's interest, "Mom, Adrian's been asking about you at school since he couldn't find out any news elsewhere, so he came to see me."

Adrian was looking for Logan?

In Yvan's mind, it seemed Logan held a deeper bond with Adrian than even with himself, despite Yvan being his father.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Yvan couldn't help but inquire, "Adrian sought you out... for what?"

"Adrian is my best friend," Logan replied, turning to gaze earnestly at Yvan. "He cares a lot about my mom too. Since you've been keeping her condition under wraps, he wanted to check in with me."

Yvan remained silent, his expression unreadable. It felt as if, in Logan's eyes, he was always coming up short.

After sharing this, Logan shifted his attention back to his backpack, pulling out a tablet and keyboard to start typing vigorously, seemingly oblivious to Yvan's presence.

Curiosity piqued, Yvan peered over to see Logan working through lines of code. Pointing out a potential simplification, Yvan suggested, "This part could be bypassed, making the rest easier to tally with an additional code."

Logan paused, looking over at Yvan with a hint of surprise. "You... you know this stuff too?"

Yvan, finding common ground, casually mentioned, "I dabbled a bit in high school."

But Logan, already proficient at such a young age, promised a future Yvan could hardly fathom.

No longer feeling the need to keep up appearances, Logan took Yvan's advice, deleting the cumbersome formula before diving back into his coding. He had been tasked by a friend, Ricky, to develop a complete software package—a daunting task, but one Logan was eager to tackle.

Yvan watched silently, marveling at his son's focus and maturity, wondering if Logan was taking on too much too soon.

An hour later, Logan finished his project, but realized Yvan had been standing behind him the entire time, silently supporting him.

When Yvan asked who taught him to code, Logan's response was terse: "Self-taught. My interest started with some notes I found in your study."

It dawned on Yvan that his own high school passion for coding had inadvertently inspired Logan. The realization was bittersweet, highlighting the distance yet undeniable connection between them.

Offering to share more resources, Yvan was met with a firm refusal from Logan, who preferred to learn independently.

Yvan's gaze drifted back to Matilda, lying still in her hospital bed. The room, filled with unsaid words and complex emotions, left him wondering: when would she wake to untangle the web of relationships that lay waiting?
