A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 356

...

Logan didn't head home that night because the next day was Saturday, so he decided to stay with Yvan in the hospital room.

This wasn't your run-of-the-mill room but a private suite with all the perks, including an extra cot for visitors who needed to stay the night. Usually, it was Yvan who crashed here after long workdays, but now, with Matilda around, father and son squeezed into the small bathroom to take their baths before bunking together. Logan was visibly nervous.

At five or six, he wasn't exactly a toddler anymore, yet he had never shared a bed with his biological father before.

He felt lost, unsure how to act, as the situation was something he hadn't anticipated.

Yvan, fearing Logan might fall off the bed, reached out to pull him closer. Logan shuddered slightly at the touch, but Yvan remained silent.

Holding his son close, Yvan realized his own heart was racing too.

The bond of blood... it was indeed powerful.

Yvan barely slept that night, his first time sharing a bed with his son, constantly worrying about Logan kicking off the covers or rolling off the bed. Every so often, he'd crack open an eye to check on him. Initially awkward, Logan eventually succumbed to sleep, his chubby cheeks relaxed as he snuggled close, breathing evenly.

Yvan found the experience both strange and new; it was as if he was truly stepping into his role as a father for the first time.

The next morning dawned, and Carl knocked on the door to deliver some documents to Yvan. They discussed business matters in hushed tones in the room, not bothering to shield Matilda and Logan from their conversation. Logan caught bits and pieces about company stocks.

He had always wanted to seize the opportunity to learn how his father managed the company; now, he wasn't about to let this chance slip by.
