When Carl returned to Sea City, he relayed Matilda's exact words to Yvan. The man was in the midst of signing a contract. After signing the contract, Yvan looked up at Carl. "She said that?"

"Yes." Carl lowered his head. "Ms. Thompson said... they're doing just fine together."

Yvan covered half his face with a hand and chuckled. "Is that so? They're fine without me, huh?"

"Mr. Boyd, when will you make it public that Ms. Thompson is innocent...?"

"The conclusive evidence is still being gathered..." Yvan's voice trailed off. "Soon, I'll clear her name."

Carl wanted to say that maybe Matilda didn't care for his help in clearing her name. She never minded what others thought of her, seeing right through the superficial judgments of society. But Yvan was stubborn about collecting all the evidence, even if every new piece seemed to slap him in the face. He continued regardless, wanting to prove something he had once lost...

Carl left the office, leaving it engulfed in silence. Yvan worked late into the night. Standing up, he looked out the window at the city's skyline, feeling a different emotion each time he stood there. Now... he was caught in an emotional turmoil he couldn't escape. As he pondered, his phone rang.

It was a call from Adrian.

What does this kid want now?

Yvan scoffed and answered the call, only to hear, "Yvan, it's Adrian. I've found something interesting. Wanna see?"
