A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 384

"It'll get better eventually," Matilda tried to console him. "Just keep the house going, Chloe will surely come back."

Godfrey replied simply, "Okay."

The next day, Logan went to school as usual, but on his way, he suddenly felt like something, or someone, was trailing him. Having been kidnapped a couple of times before, he was naturally on high alert. He whipped around to look, but there was nothing there.

Logan didn't mention this feeling to Matilda. He knew that Yvan had always had someone keep a watchful eye on him, but this new, unsettling feeling wasn't the same as Yvan's men.

It had a cold, menacing presence...

That night, Matilda stepped out to grab some groceries and was just unlocking her door when suddenly, someone sprang from the shadows. Before she could even scream, a cloth drenched in chloroform was pressed over her nose and mouth—

Logan... was the last thought in Matilda's mind before she passed out.

Matilda instinctively felt this wasn't a good place. Sure enough, a figure approached from the distance, tall and imposing, with a fierce look in his eyes.

A name flashed through Matilda's memory, and as the person drew closer, she found herself saying, "Mr. Crowe..."

"Ms. Thompson..."

Hadrian saw Matilda tied to a chair and instantly kicked one of his henchmen furiously, "What the hell were you thinking! I told you to bring Ms. Thompson here! Why the hell did you tie her up!"

The henchman, blood in his mouth, trembled as he replied, "I... we didn't know if you wanted her dead or what..."
