A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 386

Matilda gasped in shock as the grip on her loosened, and with just a soft command of "Scatter," everyone around dispersed in an instant. In a blink, the room was empty.

Staring at the man before her, Matilda felt a wave of familiarity wash over her... No, this was someone she shouldn't have forgotten... That face in front of her...

Almost unconsciously, she murmured, "Brother..."

Orson's hand twitched as if he'd been shocked, quickly pulling back. Then, frowning, he looked at Matilda, "Why are you here?"

"I..."

Memories flooded her mind, and looking at the person in front of her, she softly said, "Is it you, Orson?"

Hearing his name from her lips, a storm surged within Orson before he replied, "It's me."

"I... got a bit of a knock to the head recently, lost some memories, so things might seem a bit off..." Matilda rambled, trying to explain, "I don't even know why I'm here..."

Orson's handsome brows knitted together, his voice turning cold, "Did the 'Jungle Union' bring you back here by force?"

Matilda nodded, glancing over her shoulder at the large room behind her. Hadrian had said he'd keep her under house arrest, but in reality, the room prepared for her was no cell, but a lavish guest suite.

Orson pinched the bridge of his nose, then shut the door behind him and led Matilda to the bed to sit down. Looking directly at her, he said, "Listen, if my father has said anything, don't believe a word of it."

This serious tone startled Matilda, "Your father..."

"Somebody made a deal with him." Orson's voice dropped, "The deal was about you."
