"I don't care if she might become our enemy in the future."

Orson's voice was icy. "But Chad, if you lay a finger on her, you're signing your own death warrant!"

Chad was momentarily stunned, then let out a vicious, cold laugh. "Orson, do you, a stray without a pack, think you have the right to speak like that?"

After saying that, clutching his stomach, he walked away. Before leaving, his gaze pierced through to Matilda's face. "Matilda, you can't stay alive."

Matilda felt weak all over, collapsing onto the bed, gasping for air as she tried to catch her breath. The surreal feeling of a narrow escape, along with the terror that followed, overwhelmed her. Her voice trembled as she spoke, "What in the world just happened?"

"Orson, do you know?"

She looked up, but was met with Orson's silence.

The night dragged on, its vast shadows gradually swallowing everything...

Yvan and Declan certainly didn't expect an intrusion during their meeting.

And the intruder was no small fry.

Godfrey Walker, the youngest son of the neighboring Whty City's Walker family, had reportedly stormed in, ready to take down anyone who stood in his way, breaking into their office while Chloe was waiting on Declan's call. Godfrey just barged in like that.

Declan had always thought Godfrey didn't have it in him. He figured if Godfrey wanted to take on the Yeager Group, he'd have to fully take the reins of the Walker Group first. He never expected to be confronted by Godfrey so soon—and certainly not over Chloe's allure.

Chloe was stunned, staring as Godfrey burst in, "Godfrey..."
