A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 388

A chilling voice echoed in her ears. Matilda struggled, but was pinned down once more by a trained man...

"Ms. Thompson, no need for pretense when you've walked right into the lion's den."

The voice, unfamiliar and tinged with a scent of blood, made Matilda want to fight back. Just then, dark clouds drifted past the moon, dimming and then illuminating the room again, allowing Matilda to see the man before her clearly.

Handsome features, marred only by the chilling intent in his gaze.

"Let me go."

Matilda, fighting her fear, asked, "You're with Jungle Union, aren't you?"

"Indeed." Chad Crowe smirked, then tightened his grip on Matilda's throat, "I heard my father wanted to adopt you, and I wanted to see who was bold enough to snatch a piece of Jungle Union's pie..."

His movements were precise, clearly as well-trained as Orson, but Matilda gathered all her strength and kicked at him. Chad dodged effortlessly.

With a strong tug, fabric tore apart, and Matilda fought desperately, "Let me go!"

"You seem quite spirited; it'd be a shame to waste that. I'll give you a chance to die a pleasurable death..."

He licked his lips, "Thinking you could overturn Jungle Union? You're dreaming too big!"

Jungle Union was never a holy ground; it was hell!

Matilda wanted to say she never agreed, that she was forcibly brought here, but the man didn't give her a chance to explain. Tears welled up in her eyes, "If you lay a hand on me, your father won't let you off!"

If Hadrian was using her in a deal, he'd want her unharmed. If she died, Hadrian wouldn't be able to wash his hands of it!

"There are two people in this world I despise the most."
