A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 409

That voice was chilling to the bone, pinning Evie to the wall with its icy grip.

Then, emerging from the crowd like a deity descending among mortals, was a man with a strikingly handsome visage and a presence that was both imposing and exceptional. Yvan approached Matilda, the epitome of masculine perfection, yet Matilda couldn't help but step back.

This small gesture felt like a sting to Yvan's pride.

Evie watched, disbelief etched on her face. The thought of Yvan making an appearance was beyond her. Did he have someone keeping an eye on Matilda, ready to report back at the slightest hint of trouble?

She couldn't believe it. Had she ever mattered to Yvan, or was she just another plaything to be called upon and discarded at his whim?

Why was it that Matilda now seemed to command all of Yvan's attention?

Standing next to Kurt, Evie saw the change in him the moment he laid eyes on Yvan. His previously arrogant demeanor froze, and the older man quickly shifted his expression, bowing and scraping to Yvan with a sycophantic laugh, "Mr. Boyd, what brings you here?"

Matilda couldn't believe the turnaround in Kurt's attitude. Was this man truly that fearsome?

Yvan glanced at Kurt coolly before asking, "Did you just touch her?"

"No... no..." Kurt's voice trembled under Yvan's interrogation, sweat breaking out on his forehead. He had always thought of Matilda as nothing more than a discarded lover of Yvan's, never imagining she still held any significance to him.

"Kurt, remember this..." Yvan's eyes narrowed, his voice carrying a veiled threat, "To lay a hand on what's mine comes with a price."

That simple statement, though brief, was laced with a deadly undertone. Matilda's face paled as she clutched Logan's hand, trembling slightly.

Logan looked up, catching the fear in Matilda's eyes.
