A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 427

Criss couldn't believe his ears when Eugene mentioned that name, squinting in suspicion, "You've heard about my girl?"

Eugene chuckled, "Those photos we talked about? They were all her doing."

Criss's temper flared, "I knew it! You lied to me, saying it wasn’t Matilda! Damn, you actually dared to deceive me?"

Eugene's sea-green eyes twinkled with mischief, "I figured, given how well you know her, you'd recognize her straight away. Didn't think you'd come asking."

Criss crossed his arms, "Matilda is usually so reserved; I didn't expect her to agree to do a commercial shoot. Out with it—what did you bribe her with?"

Eugene just smiled, "Want to know? Ask her yourself. I'm not spilling the beans."

Criss rolled his eyes, "Whatever!"

...

A week later, Matilda was all packed and ready to head to the airport with Logan. She was driving, and Logan was buzzing with excitement next to her, "Mom, this is my first time flying out of the country with you."

Matilda lovingly stroked his cheek, "Be good, okay? Don't wander off."

Logan promised obediently. After parking, they went to collect their boarding passes, checked in their luggage, and then made their way to security. That's when a group of security officers rushed past them, whispering urgently among themselves.

Logan, ever so curious, caught snippets of their conversation. They were talking about a fugitive who might try to slip through security in disguise, instructing each other to be vigilant.

"What's the name on the fugitive's ID?" Logan overheard.
