Yvan was staring at the photograph for what seemed like an eternity, lost in a storm of emotions that Carl knew all too well couldn't be calmed with just words. Carl sighed and walked out, wondering when his boss would finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Meanwhile, across the ocean, Matilda and Logan stepped out of the airport, greeted by Criss who had just unlocked his car and was now cheerfully handling their suitcase. "Just one suitcase for the both of you?" he asked with a grin.
"Yeah," Matilda replied with a smile. "Just some clothes we wear all the time and a few makeup items. Everything else is just material."
"No worries," Criss said as he opened the car door for them. "If there’s anything you need, it’s on me."
"That’s the spirit!" Logan called from the back seat, his smile lighting up his face. "So, Criss, where are we headed tonight?"
"I thought we’d grab some dinner at a steakhouse and then you guys can crash. You must be jet-lagged. How’s that sound? I’ll plan something fun for tomorrow."
Whistling, Criss spun the steering wheel, "It’s your first time coming this far to visit me. Dropped all my work to spend time with you guys."
"We love you, Criss!"
The affection was genuine, unmistakable. Whenever Matilda felt down, Criss wouldn’t hesitate to hop on a flight to be with her. That kind of bond was irreplaceable.
Liberty Country was vast, and it took them a solid hour by car before they finally reached Criss’s place. Logan was ecstatic, "Wow, Criss, your backyard is huge!"
