A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 445

The look of utter bewilderment on Yvan's face only made Opal's smirk grow wider. "Seems like that woman didn't lie to me after all. You really are Grandma's little golden boy, huh? Is this how the Boyd family teaches you to act, leaving a mother and daughter out in the cold for years?"

A chill crept up Yvan's spine as he frowned, turning to his grandmother. "Grandma, you can't just believe everything people tell you. It's impossible for me to suddenly have a daughter out of nowhere..."

"Are you saying the medical records are fake?"

The matriarch of the Boyd family was so angry her chest heaved violently. "Yvan, how did I raise you? A child of the Boyd family left wandering alone, and you just let them die?"

"Grandma!"

Yvan, unable to contain himself any longer, raised his voice slightly. "Grandma, I didn't even know about this. How can you take a stranger's word for it as the truth?!"

His somewhat impulsive tone only served to anger the old lady further, her face turning a shade of stormy blue. "So what, you're saying I'm senile now? Bring that mother and daughter here tomorrow. Abandoning your family is not the Boyd way!"

Yvan was nearly driven mad by his grandmother's words but couldn't argue back. He stood up abruptly. "I don't know any Rachel. If Grandma wants to, feel free to invite them over. I'm heading back now."

"Stop right there, where do you think you're going?"

"Back to my apartment."

Yvan enunciated each word, barely five minutes in and already changing his shoes to leave. Opal couldn't even stop him. "Hold it right there, are you rebelling now?"

With a loud bang, the Boyd family's front door slammed shut behind Yvan. Inside, the grandmother turned to Violet, shouting, "Look at the son you've raised! He even dares to defy me!"
