A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 456

Cyprian had indulged a bit too much but wisely chose not to drive. Instead, he let one of his guys take the wheel, then settled himself in the passenger seat while Luna and Matilda took the back. After dropping Luna off at her place, Matilda waved goodbye, "Catch you later."

"Sure thing, text me when you get home, okay?"

"Night, Luna."

"Night."

Then, the guy driving turned and asked, "Ma'am, where to?"

Cyprian smacked him on the back of his head, "Watch your manners!"

"It's not...she's not the boss's wife, is she?" The driver shrank a bit in his seat. This wasn't the same guy from before; a new face, hence unaware of Matilda's ties to the Layton family, he whispered, "Mr. Layton usually doesn't let others ride this car, I assumed you were the missus."

Cyprian scoffed, "Oh, so what? You're sitting here, aren't you? What does that make you?"

"Point taken." The driver turned around with a sheepish grin, "Sorry about that, miss. Just give me the address, and I'll get you there."

"It's...the cemetery..."

Matilda murmured softly.

"The cemetery? At this time of night?"

The driver shivered, muttering under his breath, "Good Lord, no offense, miss, but why the graveyard at this hour?"

Huddled in the back seat, Matilda's eyes welled up, "I need to see someone."

"It's not...your husband, is it?" At that moment, Yvan, snug in his apartment, sneezed unexpectedly.

Shaking her head, Matilda replied, "A very dear relative of mine."
