A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 525

Orson glanced at the wound on his waist and touched it lightly; blood immediately stained his fingers. He frowned, and just at that moment, Matilda opened the door slightly and handed some clothes through the gap. "Here you go," she said.

It was Godfrey's jacket.

Orson's voice was deep. "Thanks."

"No problem." Matilda closed the door, her voice coming from outside. "Next time... don't just show up like that."

After all, it wasn't a good look.

Orson responded faintly. At that moment, his phone on the bathroom sink vibrated. He checked it and saw a message from one of his men:

【Boss, did you get away?】

【Boss, don't head back to Sea City for a while. Someone's out to get you! One of us got nabbed, don't come back!】

【Boss, just make it back home safely. Don't worry about us!】

Reading the last line from his men deepened Orson's gaze, the pain from his waist snapping him back to reality. Outside, Matilda frowned. "Why do I smell blood?"

Orson's face changed instantly. He put his phone away and turned on the cold water directly over his wound, washing away the blood and revealing raw flesh. Orson grunted, and Matilda asked, "Did you fall in there?"

"...No." Orson's voice was calm but firm. "I'm fine, just leave."

"Oh, alright. I'll set up a room for you tonight."

Matilda knocked on the door as a sign of leaving and then walked away. After a while, Logan came in, whispering softly, "Orson? Can I come in?"
