A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 531

Declan probably never expected to hear those words from Chloe.

His pupils shrank, and then incredulously, he stared at Chloe's face, saying, “Could you repeat that?”

Chloe stood, gripping Godfrey's arm as if her life depended on it, seemingly terrified that Declan would do something to harm Godfrey.

This expression truly wounded Declan; the woman who once hustled only for him was now standing before him... stepping forward to protect another man.

The fear in her eyes was still so evident, yet she still mustered the strength to stand up.

Could she go to such lengths for Godfrey?

Declan felt as if he had been slapped across the face. Chloe's actions made him feel utterly humiliated.

She was his, how could she worry about another man?!

Declan moved to grab her, but Godfrey quickly reached out, blocking him. As the two men locked eyes, emotions as volatile as a tempest on the brink of eruption!

Godfrey's brows furrowed, and behind him, Matilda and Orson stood up, indicating today's clash was inevitable. Godfrey shielded Chloe with his body, his gaze fiercer than ever.

Godfrey, usually carrying the aura of a gentle scholar, warm and reassuring, had never shown such ferocity, but at this moment, he showed no trace of fear, “Declan, stop pressuring her!”

Pressuring her?

Declan laughed, “What have I pressured her into? It was she who shamelessly followed me around in the past. How am I pressuring her?”

His words, loaded with humiliation, brought tears to Chloe's eyes. Godfrey, frowning, said, "Shut up."

Declan forcefully pushed Godfrey aside and advanced towards Chloe. She stepped back as Matilda called out, “Declan.”

Declan stopped, his hands in his pockets, his indifferent amber eyes flashing with unsettling emotions.
