A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 544

Logan's eyes flickered with a hint of fear, a bandage wrapped around his head. Keaton mentioned he had a slight concussion, but it wasn't serious enough to disrupt daily activities. A bit of rest, and he'd be just fine. Logan's gaze lingered on Yvan, asking, "Was it you who protected us?"

Yvan remained silent for a long while before finally responding softly, "It was just... something I owed."

Logan also stayed silent for a moment before quietly expressing his gratitude, "Thank you."

Yvan offered a self-deprecating smile and turned his face away.

He wasn't seeking thanks but forgiveness.

Yet, the weight of forgiveness... was unexpectedly heavy.

By the time Matilda came to, Yvan and Logan had already had their IVs removed and, along with Keaton, were huddled around the bed like curious kids peeking at a mummy exhibit. When Matilda opened her eyes, she was greeted by three faces.

Two of which, one larger and one smaller, bore a striking resemblance to each other.

Matilda glanced at Logan and cleared her throat before speaking, "What... what happened?"

"Mr. Boyd was driving a bit too fast..." Logan said with an awkward chuckle, "We accidentally crashed into a store window..."

Matilda immediately shot a glare at Yvan, who felt the intensity of her stare. Yet, to keep Matilda from worrying, they all played along with the story.

Feeling embarrassed for the first time, the man managed a strained smile, "Sorry about that."

Matilda lowered her eyes, "Please don't be so reckless next time."

Yvan was being scolded but didn't argue back.

Matilda then seemed to remember something, "What about that hospital before? Was there a terrorist attack there?"
