A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 571

After having dinner with Yvan and Lynn a few hours later, Logan returned to the hospital where Matilda was staying. At that moment, Matilda was curled up, engrossed in a novel on her phone. Seeing Logan enter, she smiled, "Out having fun again?"

Logan blushed slightly, probably because he felt guilty about lying to his mom. His voice was soft, "I had dinner with Mr. Boyd and others."

"Why with Yvan?" Matilda was taken aback, not expecting her son to have dinner with Yvan.

"It was a chance encounter."

Logan lifted his head and assured Matilda, "Mom, don't worry. You're safe here, and I'll protect you."

"Silly boy."

Matilda gently caressed Logan's face, "It's me who failed to protect you…"

Remembering the day Logan was slapped twice in defense of Matilda made her unable to stay calm. She had dreams of fighting back fiercely, only to wake up to the harsh reality.

Matilda's fingers tightened, "Logan, trust me. The slaps you received...we'll return them one day!"

She was no saint. She couldn't just smile and forgive those who insulted her son. She wouldn't let it go!

Opal hated nothing more than outsiders clinging to Yvan, right? Well, she was determined to turn the tables, to take back everything that was stolen from her, leaving no room for regret!

Logan grasped Matilda's hand and noticed the necklace around her neck, "What's the story behind this necklace?"

"One day, Orson climbed over the wall to give it to me," Matilda confessed, looking down.

"He came secretly, even Yvan doesn't know. And he told me no matter what happens, never to take this necklace off."

Logan stared at the swinging pendant, lost in thought.
