A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 570

"Alright, heading out now."

Upon receiving the message, Logan immediately turned to Yvan and said, "Mr. Boyd, time for us to leave."

"Yeah, let's plan another visit soon."

Yvan glanced at Hadrian, whispering, "Mr. Crowe, we're taking off. We'll do everything in our power to ensure your safety. I hope you can regain consciousness soon. I know you can hear me. If you want to protect your only daughter, Matilda... please, wake up soon."

Then, the group quietly exited the room, leaving Hadrian alone on the hospital bed, the silence enveloping him. The cold air carried the steady beeping of machinery, a reminder of his unbroken unconscious state.

His only daughter... Matilda.

Throughout the drive back, Yvan was preoccupied with one question: How did Matilda end up connected to the Crowe family?

Who were Matilda's real parents? Their whereabouts were currently unknown, and Yvan had been unable to trace them. The couple had vanished without a trace five years ago.

The ride back was heavy with tension, and Declan said, "I'm really worried that we won't manage to secure Hadrian's safety before he... well, kicks the bucket."

Yvan shot him a cold look. "Dare to jinx us? With your cursed predictions..."

Declan shrugged helplessly. "Hey, I'm under a lot of pressure here too, okay? Let me know if there's any news. I need to go home and fill my dad in."

"Sure."

After Declan left, Yvan glanced at the two kids sitting together in the back seat. Somehow, Logan's cold demeanor and Lynn's careful attempts to please him seemed oddly fitting.

Yvan looked in the rearview mirror and asked, "You don't like Lynn?"
