A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 599

Logan's decision was a clear message to Yvan - their paths diverged here, no need for further goodbyes.

Yvan watched Logan's retreating figure, his gaze heavy. The man's profile, from the bridge of his nose to the contour of his cheek, was striking—a sight that often turned heads. Yet, Yvan's eyes remained fixed on Logan, not on the admiring glances of passersby.

There was a time when all he offered that mother and son were cold shoulders and colder stares. Now, he watched them leave, yearning to follow, but courage had deserted him.

When Logan got home, Matilda and Chloe were sprawled on the couch, engrossed in a video game marathon. They had just returned from a hectic day at a photoshoot, changing outfits eight times before finally nailing the look for the magazine's first issue. They were so exhausted they could barely feel their legs.

Chloe lay on the couch while Godfrey was in the kitchen, whipping up some dishes. As Logan walked in, Matilda glanced up, "Back already? Did you have fun today?"

Logan joined in the conversation, "Yeah, it was great!"

"That's good to hear."

Matilda smiled warmly, caressing Logan's face, "Were those two who came to pick you up the ones who dropped you off?"

Logan shook his head, "No, I came back on my own."

"Next time, make sure to stay safe, okay? If you're coming home alone, give mommy a call. I'll come pick you up."

"Okay."

Logan smiled at Matilda, "Mom, have you ever wondered where grandma and grandpa are?"

It was a subtle way of bringing up Matilda's family history.

Upon this, Matilda's expression turned somber, "After the Thompson family incident, I lost all contact with them. I have no idea where they are now, no news at all..."
