A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 627

Matilda gasped, her voice cutting through the tension like ice. "Why would you do this? Come at me if you must — leave his family out of this!"

Even in his worst moments, Yvan's family was innocent!

Chad burst into wild, deranged laughter. "Because it's the only way to make Yvan bend to my will, to make him pay, from the moment he chose to save Hadrian!"

The barrel of Chad's gun swung menacingly between Matilda and Yvan. "Now, make your choice, Ms. Thompson. Do we say goodbye to Yvan's family, or do you step forward?"

Yvan shielded Matilda with his body. "You—"

"You're threatening me with Yvan's family?"

Matilda let out a scornful laugh. "Do you know how much I wish Yvan's grandmother would just disappear?!"

Chad was visibly shaken by Matilda's laughter, and even Rachel, the hostage, flinched.

Matilda pointed a damning finger at Rachel. "And her? I'd love nothing more than to see her suffer a thousand deaths for all the tears I've shed because of her! You think threatening me with these two is going to work? You must be joking! Go on, do it! Show me how you plan to 'threaten' me. What will it be? Stab Rachel first, or slap her around? Why aren't you moving? Got cold feet all of a sudden?"

Her words sent shockwaves through everyone present.

From a distance, Carl nodded in approval to Logan. "Your mom's got guts and brains."
