A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 637

For two long hours, Matilda replayed everything about her and Yvan in her mind.

From her initial unrequited love to the humiliation she suffered, and now, finding herself at a dead end, Matilda always thought she was the one who nearly died in the past.

But now, it was Yvan who was dead in the future.

She couldn't have predicted such an ending to their saga. She had always thought they would be at each other's throats until the end of time, wounding and battling each other fiercely. She never imagined their story would conclude so abruptly, extinguishing all their love and hate in an unexpected twist.

She could still hear Yvan's insults echoing in her ears. That man, even in his moments of hurting others, carried a tone of disdain and wild pride, as if nothing in the world could ever touch him, only he could inflict pain.

But Matilda forgot, Yvan was human, too. He could get hurt.

A broken heart might heal over time, but what about physical injuries?

Repeated, fatal injuries cut his life short at the age of 26.

Matilda covered her face, her eyes reddening with the thought of having to deliver the news to the Boyd family, her steps felt like they weighed a ton.

Matilda thought she should be laughing. Yvan had finally gotten what he deserved for all the wrongs he had done to her. Shouldn't she feel a sense of triumphant vengeance?

But... gripping her shirt tightly over her heart as if to ease some internal turmoil, she thought, how can you hate someone who's already dead?

Forcing herself to laugh, Matilda trembled with hysterical laughter in the back of a taxi, confusing the driver who glanced at her several times. Eventually, her laughter turned to sobs, her shoulders shaking as tears streamed down her face.

The living continue living, and the dead are gone.
