A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 641

"But Logan, that's not our concern anymore."

It took Matilda a while to gather her thoughts before she finally spoke up, "Whatever happens to the Boyd family now, whether they thrive or perish, it just doesn't concern us anymore."

All the words Logan wanted to say were stuck in his throat.

Yeah, they were no longer connected; Yvan's death had severed the last tie. From now on, they just needed to forget about him and focus on living a peaceful life.

Logan pursed his lips, swallowed his words, and then turned to his mom, "Yeah, I get that. I was just worried about Grandpa's future..."

"They'll figure it out," Matilda said firmly to her son, "I won't let you get hurt anymore."

Looking at Matilda's face, Logan was overwhelmed with emotions and lost the courage to speak further.

...

The next day, they visited another hospital to see Chloe and Godfrey. Chloe was somewhat better, her spirits lifted and her wounds healing nicely. She put on a bright smile when she saw Matilda, as if to keep her from feeling down, with everyone trying their best to cheer her up.

Later, when Godfrey took Logan out to play in the hospital's garden, Chloe quietly asked Matilda about Yvan.

Matilda forced a smile, pretending everything was fine, "Oh, nothing's wrong. Why do you ask?"

"Don't push yourself too hard."

Chloe gave Matilda a hug, "I know it's tough on you right now. When you first fell for him, you didn't expect him to hurt you like this. And when you grew to hate him, you never imagined he'd die."
