A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 643

"It's okay," Logan whispered to himself. "No matter when, as long as you come back, that's all that matters."

Yvan... You haven't fully taken responsibility for my mom's life. How could you just leave like this?

...

The next morning, when Matilda woke up, Godfrey was in the kitchen making breakfast, and Logan was on a stool helping out. Seeing her come out, both greeted her in unison, "Hey, good morning."

"Morning," Matilda responded with a smile. "What's got you guys in such a good mood today?"

Of course, Logan was over the moon because he had shared with Godfrey the possibility that Yvan might still be alive!

But he hadn't told his mom, preparing for the worst-case scenario. If Yvan was indeed gone, telling Matilda in advance would only lead to more disappointment and despair.

Logan always held onto hope, waiting for Yvan to return. He believed that man was his father, the one who, despite being ruthless and cold, also possessed incredible abilities.

In a hospital in Australia, machines quietly operated, emitting a steady, dragging beep, mirroring the silent, comatose state of the patient, mechanical and cold.

Who was it that kept pleading in their dreams, wake up... please wake up...

...

That afternoon, Matilda took Logan out for some retail therapy, a mother-son bonding moment. With spring in the air, she bought Logan several new outfits and even picked up a few pieces for Chloe, joking that she had been fattened up by the delicacies from Godfrey's family and was almost bursting out of her clothes.

After shopping, they visited Chloe in the hospital, keeping the mood light and normal as if nothing had happened.

Later, back at home, Matilda and Logan chatted and played games in the living room, sticking to their usual bedtime routine, everything as it always had been.
