A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 665

Yvan glanced around; they were now in the hallway outside the restroom, with almost no one nearby. The little boy had followed him all the way, seemingly eager to stay close.

Yvan pointed to himself and asked, "You calling me?"

The stranger's attitude made Logan pause. If this man really was his father, why would he look at him with such unfamiliarity?

Furrowing his brow, Logan took a step forward. Yvan stood still, maintaining his expression. Seeing Logan approach, he squatted down, greeting him with a smile and fluent English, "Hey, were you calling out to me?"

Finally, Logan reached where Yvan stood, every step seemingly taking all his courage.

The boy shook his head, "No... you're not him."

This was the second time Yvan had heard something like this today.

A woman earlier had said the same thing.

Yvan was slightly puzzled, "Have you mistaken me for someone else?"

Logan stepped back, his face breaking into a smile tinged with the sort of resignation and sadness one might expect from an adult, "Seems like I did."

"You're the second person to make that mistake today."

Yvan squatted down to get closer to Logan. To Logan, the face before him bore an uncanny resemblance to his father's. Could there really be such a coincidence in the world?

"Hey, mind telling me who your 'Daddy' is?" Yvan looked at Logan, feeling a strange connection to the boy, similar to the one he felt towards the woman, compelling him to get closer to them.

This mother and son felt like a treasure to him. But why?
