A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 666

The man pushed down the feeling of unease and reached out to take Logan's small hand, guiding him towards the event. "The way you say 'Dad'... sounds like he might not have been there for your mom in the beginning, then regretted it and tried to make amends, huh?"

"Yeah." Logan looked up at Yvan's chiseled jawline, so strikingly similar to his father's... But why...

"My mom and dad divorced a while back, so I thought that was it for me and my dad too." Logan let Yvan lead him back into the crowd, noticing surprised glances as they stood side by side. "But I never expected my dad to make such a final decision, leaving no room for turning back..."

"It's alright."

Yvan could tell Logan was feeling down and glanced at him, softly comforting, "Let the past be the past. You and your mom are doing well now, right? Plus, you've got a new dad now."

At this, Logan frowned, "A new dad? Which one?"

Yvan paused, "Eh? The biracial guy, isn't he your new dad?"

"No, no," Logan chuckled, waving his hand, "That's just a close friend of my mom's. He came with her to the dinner because it's awkward for her to attend alone, so she brought a plus-one for some company."

Hearing Logan say this, Yvan couldn't help but smile, asking again with a deeper meaning, "So, that biracial guy has nothing to do with your mom?"

Logan nodded, "You could say that. They've known each other for a while, just old friends."

"Is that so..."

Yvan thought to himself that anyone willing to stick around that long must harbor some feelings, or why else would a guy willingly tag along?
