A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 670

\"It's nothing to fuss about.\"

Yvan felt like a hammer had just dropped on his heart, his entire being shaken as if struck hard, his soul trembling. Later, when Lance noticed Matilda's discomfort, he scrambled for some napkins, exclaiming, \"Damn! I knew you were clueless about girls, man. Great, now you've made our queen cry!\"

Yvan's face changed instantly, \"What... what are you talking about?! How was I supposed to know it would end up like this? Ah... please don’t cry, Matilda, stop crying, okay?\"

He bent down slightly, as if comforting a child, taking the wine glass from Matilda's hands and gently wiping her tears with his slender fingers, \"I didn't realize this was a sore subject for you, oh my bad, I underestimated how much it would affect you. I never meant to reopen old wounds. Please, stop crying. Damn, Lance, how do you usually comfort girls?\"

Lance, holding the napkins, was just as confused, \"How would I know! Girls usually fall for me, not the other way around!\"

Yvan retorted, \"You think it's any different for me?\"

Seeing Matilda's shoulders shudder, Yvan and Lance, aware of the curious glances from other guests, quickly guided Matilda aside and brought over an array of delicious treats to her.

Like a perfect butler, Yvan began cutting up the pastries for her, \"I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have brought it up. I was just curious about your past, but I truly didn't expect to upset you like this. It was my mistake, please don't hold it against me, alright?\"

His tone carried a mix of doting and a hint of cheekiness.

Lance poured Matilda some juice, \"Forget about him, queen. He's just a clueless guy when it comes to romance. Look at me, how about I tell you a joke to cheer you up? Please, no tears...\"
