A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 671

As soon as Lance said that, Yvan fixed him with a glare that could freeze hot coffee, "What's your game?"

Lance took a seat next to Matilda, then turned to his buddy with a smirk, "What, you can't understand plain English? I'm inviting Ms. Thompson here to hit the dance floor with us tonight."

"Sorry about that." Matilda smiled apologetically, "I doubt I'll stick around the party for long tonight."

That took Yvan aback, "You're not staying for the after-party?"

She nodded, telling Yvan, "I thought I'd take a walk around the neighborhood tonight. I've had all the chats I needed to, and I'm not really in the mood for the rest of the festivities. Thought I'd enjoy my own company instead."

"Well, that's a bummer." Yvan shrugged, a hint of disappointment in his voice. "Maybe I should offer to join you, but I've got a speech to deliver tonight. If you're up for it, I could catch up with you after."

"No need to trouble yourself, Mr. Boyd."

For some reason, the way 'Mr. Boyd' came out of her mouth sounded like she was laying on the sarcasm pretty thick.

Yvan frowned but didn't push the issue. People started passing by, and the conversation shifted back to the mingling crowd. Watching Matilda's slender figure disappear into the crowd, Lance toyed with his white hair and teased, "What are you looking at? She's already turned you down."

"And you too," Yvan shot back, throwing a glance at Lance. "Weren't you the one fussing about me making a big deal over a girl?"

"Now, I think she's worth making a big deal over." Lance chuckled, "Ah, fascinating women... makes you wonder if she's into Adrian."

At the mention of Adrian, Yvan's expression darkened, and Lance laughed even harder, "Are you trying to provoke me?"

"Just saying~" Lance stirred Yvan's anger on purpose, then ran off with a particularly irritating laugh, "Hey, don't get mad. If you ruin your liver, I won't be able to find you another donor."

He was definitely asking for it!
