A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 687

Matilda watched them playfully tussling in the corner, taking a deep breath of relief. Thankfully, things seemed to have returned to normal between them, and Adrian hadn't pressed the issue further, which eased some of her worries.

But the thought of the man who bore an uncanny resemblance to Yvan always sparked a sense of unease within her.

Why did it feel like there was a looming crisis?

...

That night, as Matilda and Logan prepared for bed, she turned off the lights, but Logan didn’t lie down.

Puzzled, Matilda asked her son, “Logan, what’s up?”

Lost in his thoughts, Logan furrowed his brows deeply, a gesture eerily reminiscent of Yvan’s focused demeanor at work.

In the dim moonlight streaming through the window, half of the little boy’s face bore the stern shadow of Yvan. After a long pause, Logan finally responded, “Mom, I’ve been wondering if Yvan is really dead.”

Matilda was taken aback. “You mean… Yvan might still be alive?”

“It’s possible,” Logan said, looking out the window. “The appearance of this Yvan made me think that the world’s coincidences are too miraculous. Maybe I started to hope that my dad isn’t dead after all.”

Indeed, the slightest glimmer of hope can reignite the once extinguished flames of despair. Such is the greed of the human heart.

Despite having given up hope on Yvan countless times, Matilda couldn’t help but be moved by the memory of his final leap towards the cliff.

Because they are humans, living beings with emotions that influence others in various ways. A heart can be shattered and left for dead, but it can also be revived.
