A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 690

Matilda glanced at Logan, his face etched with a seriousness that seemed to weigh heavily on him lately. First, there was his late-night inquiry about what she'd do if Yvan decided to return, and now, his mysterious demeanor only deepened her sense of impending drama.

With a sigh, Matilda reached out to Logan, snapping him back to the present as he muttered, "Maybe it's true..."

"True? What's true?" Matilda asked, puzzled.

Logan chose silence over further explanation. Later, they tried to lighten the mood by hitting the town for some window shopping, acting as if the conversation had never happened.

He couldn't tell Matilda yet, not until all the truths settled like dust. The risk of another dashed hope was too high.

Their stroll through the downtown shopping district was followed by a taxi ride to the airport. Carl and Adrian were a couple of steps behind, lugging the luggage, while Logan and Matilda led the way. Their appearance alone sparked whispers and stares from passersby.

"That woman carries herself like a star," an onlooker commented.

"Yeah, and that boy with her, he's so cute. Is he her son?"

"She must be some kind of elite, with that kind of presence."

Matilda and Logan were used to such murmurs and remained unfazed. They passed through the VIP security check like it was routine, yet Matilda couldn't shake the feeling of being followed. A quick glance back, and the feeling vanished as quickly as it came.
