Matilda was taken aback, not expecting things to have escalated this much. She immediately followed up with concern, "Did he... did he do something to you?"
Chloe's voice trembled as she recounted the ordeal. Godfrey wrapped his arms around her, his eyes full of compassion, while Matilda trembled with rage. How could there be such an unreasonable man?
To think he even recorded those videos of Chloe and was using them to blackmail her?
Matilda clenched her fists, "Don't worry, if he dares to make those things public, I'll make sure he pays for it!"
"I just feel so cold inside," Chloe said, her gaze hollow. "So utterly devastated. What did I ever do to deserve this from Declan? I've never betrayed him. He was the one who threw me out, so why... why does he act like I'm the one who did something wrong?"
"How dare he, how dare he!"
Chloe screamed hysterically, then hugged her head, sobbing quietly, "I don't know what to do anymore. I even feel like I'm betraying Godfrey. I really want to be the best girlfriend for him, but every time Declan shows up, I realize I can't escape..."
Godfrey's heart twisted in pain, "Chloe, you've done nothing wrong, honestly. I don't care about your past with Declan. What I can't stand is him hurting you over and over again."
Matilda felt the pain too, "Chloe, be strong, give yourself and Godfrey a chance. Just like I did, you can move past this."
Chloe's shoulders shook, "But the photos... what if... I don't mind if my reputation is ruined, but with Godfrey, I don't want to embarrass him, I don't want to tarnish the reputation of the Walker family..."
Godfrey held her even tighter, "Chloe, look at me. It's okay, I'm here for you. I wasn't there for your past, but I'll protect your future with everything I've got. Don't be afraid of Declan. If he dares to make it public, we'll sue him for invasion of privacy and defamation. We'll defend our dignity with everything we have, even if it means going down with him, I won't let him hurt you again."
