A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 762

Keaton and Lance exchanged a "give me a break" look, and Yvan bristled under their scrutiny. "What's up with you guys?"

"Word on the street is Matilda just turned you down, man." Keaton twirled a pen between his fingers with an ease that made it look like a magic trick. "I bet she’d find it annoying to even see you around now."

Yvan massaged his temples, a gesture he had seen Matilda do countless times before. "I'm just worried Mark might take her out for dinner again."

"You might want to chill on that front," Keaton analyzed, leaning back in his chair. "Matilda’s not the type to bounce back to someone like Mark so quickly. From what I know of her, she's probably in a 'leave me alone' phase. I'd bet she turns Mark down too."

Yvan's mood lightened slightly, but soon he was lost in thought about how he could bump into Matilda again. These days, his mind was occupied with nothing but work and Matilda, more so than it had been five years ago.

Keaton and Lance shook their heads in resignation. What is love, if not a pledge to stand by each other through life and death?

Later, when Declan woke up, everyone went to see him. Lying on the hospital bed, his face was as pale as a ghost. This was the first time Yvan had seen Declan look so weak.

His first question was, "Where's Chloe now?"

Yvan replied, feeling a stab in his heart, "She's in Whty City, hanging out with Godfrey."

Declan's face turned even more ashen, making Keaton think that when it came to delivering bad news, Yvan was a pro.

A heavy silence fell over the room until Declan said, "I want to be discharged."

"Fat chance, you're under observation till tomorrow." Keaton glanced at the medical chart. "And what? You wanna go find Chloe?"
