A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 765

"Yeah, got a nasty one in the stomach," Lance said, eyeing R7CKY's wound with a tense gaze. "Who put him in this position? It's smart, prevents further injury."

"That was me," Logan announced, standing firm. "I was worried you guys wouldn't make it in time, so I started to prep to get the bullet out myself."

Alcohol lamps, scissors, and tweezers were all laid out, ready to go.

He had everything prepared, ready to take matters into his own hands if Matilda and Yvan hadn't shown up. His meticulous plan caught Lance's attention, earning Logan a few impressed glances.

"You're a genius," Lance admitted, pulling on a pair of latex gloves. "But we're not in a sterile OR here, and there’s a real risk of infection given we can't ensure a germ-free environment."

Taking R7CKY to a hospital was out of the question. Gunshot wounds were a red flag, and they couldn’t risk exposure.

Lance glanced down at R7CKY before shooting a puzzled look at Ventus, sensing something familiar about them but unable to place where he’d seen them before.

Maybe it was a soldier's intuition, recognizing a kindred spirit who had also survived the battlefield's chaos.

It made Lance feel as though he was among old comrades, reminiscent of the Seven Deadly Sins gang.

Matilda and Yvan watched from the side as Logan meticulously assisted Lance, handing over each tool with precision that would be envied by a seasoned surgical nurse. It was as if he had undergone rigorous training.

"How did you know how to do all this?" Matilda asked.
