But all those spooky suspicions vanished the moment the sushi platter was served. Matilda snapped a photo and shared it on Facebook before anyone could dig in.
"Let's eat!"
"Dig in, everyone!" they all chimed in unison, folding their hands in a gesture of thanks, much like a scene straight out of a sitcom.
"Doesn't Matilda love shrimp tempura?" Chloe picked up a piece, "Here, this one's for you!"
"Eating your heart out and still remembering me," Matilda glanced at Chloe, "Thanks a bunch."
"Hmph." Chloe grabbed another piece for herself, then turned to Godfrey, "Peel this shrimp for me, will you?"
"Oh, get a room!" Eugene and Criss shook their heads, lamenting, "Seriously, had we known, we wouldn't have invited you lovebirds. Too much for us single folks."
"Criss can't find a boyfriend because he's gay. What's your excuse?" Chloe teased, "You're not secretly gay too, are you? That would be quite the plot twist – the perfect bro-mance."
"Would you quit it with the trash talk!"
Criss snapped back, "Back off, I'm not into that with my brother. We'd be the end of the line for our family."
Chloe and Matilda burst into laughter, their fujoshi eyes darting between Eugene and Criss, almost itching to ask who's top and who's bottom but held back, letting their imaginations run wild.
Logan, ever the innocent one, asked, "What's all this about being gay? Is it some kind of luxury?"
Chloe and Matilda froze.
"Well..." Matilda searched for a simpler explanation, "It means if, let's say, Eugene and Criss were to be a couple, that's what it refers to. Get it?"
Logan, still somewhat clueless, asked, "So, Godfrey and Chloe being together, is that the same?"
