AUTHOR'S POV
Henry Lexington just wanted to deliver those things to Sara and then he wanted to disappear from her life. He was about to do that but when she called out to him, he couldn’t help but freeze on his spot.
Sara sighed in relief when her father stopped. She walked toward him, a smile gracing her lips.
“ How can you leave from outside? Don’t you want to see your Grandson? ” Sara reached him and grabbed his arm, her eyes filling up with tears.
She forgave him. She forgave everyone a long time ago.
She wanted those who cared about her to be a part of her life now. She knew her father was weak but he had loved her from the start. There was no doubt about that.
She didn’t want to judge people anymore. She wanted to be kind to everyone and most of all, towards her father.
“ I was just leaving. ” Henry Lexington kept his face away from her, tears beginning to fall his eyes.
Sara sniffed, pulling at his arm to make him face her. “ Please, Dad. Just come inside. ”
Henry Lexington looked at her face and the longing in his heart increased. He was sorry for everything, for being so weak, for being so helpless. He was happy that she found a home now and he didn’t want to jinx it.
Sara understood his reluctance so she stepped forward and hugged her father after a long time.
She forgot the way he smelled. She forgot how warm he always was. She forgot what it was like to embrace him.
But, she remembered it all today again.
“ You can’t just leave me Mom’s necklace. You have to see your Grandson. ” Sara mumbled, tears flowing from her eyes.
Henry Lexington wrapped his arms around his daughter and sniffed lightly, his heart finding peace after years of misery.
Pulling away, Sara turned around and grabbed his forearm to drag him back to her house.
“ Sara. I can’t just go in there. What if Silas doesn’t like it? ” Henry Lexington didn’t want to cause any problems for his daughter. He wanted her to be happy.
Sara paused and turned around with a teary smile. “ Who cares? It’s my home. I can bring whoever I want. ”
There was a hint of possessiveness in Sara’s tone. She knew she belonged to that home and that home belonged to her.
She could do whatever she wanted and Silas along with Grandfather Albert were always going to support her in her right choices.
Henry Lexington smiled back, his mind finding peace after his heart found solace.
Sara took her back to the home and in the garden where the family lunch was organized.
“ Sara? Where did you go?! ” Silas was by her side instantly, worry clouding his expressions.
When he approached her, his eyes landed on Henry Lexington and he went silent for a moment.
“ Dad came, Silas. ” Sara smiled widely, her eyes still glossy.
Silas smiled back, happy for her. “ Then bring him here. It’s family lunch today. ”
Sara’s smile turned into a grin, her eyes closing for a moment.
Henry Lexington smiled at the scene before him. His daughter looked at Silas like he was her world and he returned that look with ten fold more intensity.
“ Take a seat, Dad. ” Sara sat him down and her eyes found Grandfather Albert who was coming there.
She was sure Silas would accept all her decisions, but Grandfather Albert was too protective so she didn’t know how he was going to behave.
“ I heard Henry Lexington came? ” Grandfather Albert addressed Sara grumpily and glanced at Henry Lexington who was keeping his head down before he stood up to greet Grandfather Albert.
“ Sit down. We are having a family lunch. You came at the right time. ” Grandfather Albert commanded stoically and took his head chair, his eyes soft but drilling holes in Henry Lexington’s head at the same time.
