Although her spirit beasts had taken quite a few blows for her, they were all down. They fell unconscious one by one.
She returned them to her spirit pagoda, where Little Spirit would heal their injuries once they returned.
Based on her observation of the tribulation cloud, it seemed that there would be a total of seven rounds of seven lightning strikes. Of that total, forty-six had already struck. This meant that she would have to face the last three on her own.
This was in spite of the fact that she was already covered with wounds.
“Do your best to absorb the remaining lightning bolts. I will protect your heart, blood channels and dantian.” Just when she thought that she was going to die here, Crimson Flame’s voice sounded from inside her mind.
Absorb the remaining lightning bolts? Sima You Yue didn’t really understand. If she did this, she would have to spend all her remaining spirit energy to control and guide the lightning. She wouldn’t be able to protect herself. However, since Crimson Flame had told her so, she had no other choice. She believed that he wouldn’t harm her.
As such, she retracted all the spirit qi from her body. At the same moment, she felt the warmth of Crimson Flame’s flame surround her meridians and dantian.
As she retracted her spirit energy, those who were watching her from the ocean were stunned.
“Why did she retract her spirit energy? The remaining lightning strikes are going to be more powerful. If she doesn’t fight back, she’ll be roasted to a crisp.” Wu La Xiu cried out anxiously.
“Could it be that she plans to abandon her physical body and focus on protecting her heart and blood channels and dantian?” Wu La Li guessed.
“You’re wrong.” Shui Man Qing said, “She should have one more contract beast remaining. Furthermore, it’s the most powerful one of them all. I can feel a powerful energy radiating from inside her. That energy should be protecting her blood channels.”
“Yes, I can feel it too.” Wu La Mai and Shui Man Qing exchanged glances. They could both feel that the energy radiating outwards was not a bit weaker than they were. They wondered what kind of contracted beast it was. Could it be one of the missing divine beasts?”
“Zap-”
The bolt of lightning directly struck Sima YoU yue, and she feel the pain shoot through her entire body. Her meridians were badly seared and the pain was so intense that she almost passed out. The pain was so intense that she couldn’t think, leaving her in a daze.
“Absorb it, quickly!’ Crimson Flame’s voice pulled her mind back from the fog.
She couldn’t faint. If she didn’t, there was no telling if she would survive this or not.
She gritted her teeth and suffered through the pain to control the pathway of the lightning. She channeled her spirit energy and consciousness to control the lightning bolts that were rampaging in side her. She suddenly felt as if the lightning bolts were different from before. There was a little streak of purple amidst the white.
Everyone standing by the ocean were stunned when they saw the lightning bolt strike her. However, they saw that she was actually absorbing the bolt. They suddenly felt as if she was a little too crazy.
“As expected of an abnormal lightning trial. The bolts at the end are not the same. However, for it to strike her directly… the amount of anguish…” Shui Man Qing understood what she was doing, but her heart still ached for her.
She was clearly a young girl in her twenties. Why did she have to strive so hard to become strong?
If they saw the way she was right now, even the third and fourth Wu La brother who had something against her were moved. They should be proud to have a little sister like this.
Sima You Yue had yet to finish absorbing the third strike when the next one came. She felt as if she were already burnt to a crisp from the inside out, so much so that even her bones were burnt. If it were not for the fact that Crimson Flame was protecting her vital organs, she might have been a corpse by now.
Absorb, absorb. Apart from focusing on absorbing it, she didn’t care about anything else. She merely hoped that absorbing the lightning would be of some use. She didn’t want to suffer in vain.
