Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 401

“Grace…” Dorian Hart swallowed hard and forced a smile. “This information… is it reliable? Could it have been a misdiagnosis? After all, it’s been so many years…”

“Dorian.”

Grace Hart cut him off.

She looked at Dorian, who had always been relatively gentle with her growing up, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

“I just want the truth.”

“I need your help to contact the family’s old driver, Mr.Lawrence and Martha, who was responsible for taking care of Mom. You're the only one in the family who can still reach them.”

Damien Clarke sat to the side, fiddling with a metal lighter. The sharp *click, click* of it was piercing in the quiet conference room.

He said nothing, simply staring at Dorian with a smirk.

The stare made Dorian’s skin crawl.

On one side was his potentially murderous father and the family’s crumbling reputation.

On the other was his own sister, who had been nearly driven to her death by that same father and was now only asking for the truth.

He was torn between a flicker of guilt and the cold instinct for survival.

Finally, Dorian avoided Grace’s gaze.

“Okay.”

Dorian swallowed again, speaking with difficulty. “I’ll help you look. But as you know, the old servants scattered long ago. Lawrence moved back to where he’s from. It might… take some time.”

A light flickered in Grace’s eyes.

“Thank you, Dorian.”

She reached out to take his hand.

But Dorian flinched as if he’d been burned, instinctively pulling his hand back.

Seeing his sister’s outstretched hand fall empty, a sharp pain shot through Dorian’s heart. But he could only force himself to say, “I… I’ll go make some calls.”

With that, he grabbed his phone and fled the conference room.

Damien watched his hasty retreat with a mocking smile.

“Grace, that brother of yours is a terrible actor.”
