Rodrigo POV
Turning into a Shadow Maw was the most painful experience of my life. Don Arnaldo couldn't handle the stress of turning and he passed away. His heart gave out. He had no other family either. His death left somethings in chaos. He hadn’t changed his last will and testament. It still showed Armando as the beneficiary of all assets and company.
When this was realized, his attorney approached me. He explained that since the Moreno family own the other half of the ports, that we could buy the company and all the assets are wrapped up in the company financials.
Julian was present during this time and said that I would buy the company. Which made me panic.
“Julian, the ledgers for the Moreno family are in the red. I can’t afford to buy the Reyes family’s company.” I said.
“I’ll give you the money and you will run the company and pay me back. You need to keep control of the ports.” He said.
“Why are you so interested in me having the ports?” I asked.
“Because it’s part of the plan. Your father failed to marry your sister to Armando. This was part of the plan the entire time. I worked with him on this plan. We needed control of all ports. We have equipment and arms that need a secured way to enter this region. We need these things for the war.” He said. “You and I will enter into an agreement. If you default on the agreement, then the company and all the ports will pass to me.”
This sounds like a setup but honestly, I don’t have many options. Ledgers are in the red and the money from the Reyes ports will save my father’s company.
“If the sale is for the Reyes ports and the money you loan me if for the Reyes ports, then if I default, the only thing you should get is the Reyes ports. That should not include the Moreno ports.” I said.
“Don’t sit here and tell me that you don’t plan to use the capital from Reyes to save Moreno. That is only possible with my help. So, if you default, then the money from the Reyes family would be mine and since you are going to save the Moreno ports using my money from the Reyes ports, then the Moreno ports will become mine as well.” He said.
I can’t think of a way out of this, because I’m not holding any cards.
“You know you don’t have any other options. Don Arnaldo dying was by design, to open doors for you.” He said. “My term is five years at seven percent interest. I’m offering you a way out and automatic growth for your empire.”
“I need to think about this, Julian.” I said.
“Fine. Sleep on it and let’s talk about it in the morning.” He said and he left my office.
Once everything is quiet and I know I’m the only in the area, I pulled out my phone and dial Thalia. After a couple of rings, she answers.
“Hermanito! How are you?” She asked happily.
“Not good, Thalia. I have a lot to tell you. Is Aiden with you?” I asked.
“Yeah, I’m here, Rodrigo. What’s wrong?” Aiden asked.
“Okay, there is a lot to tell you and I need help.” I said.
