I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 253

“…Everyone here really thinks you’re… well, you should try to be a normal person. If your deadbeat husband left you with too much debt, you don’t have to inherit it. Just buy a talisman and stick it over your bed. That should keep the bad spirits away.”

I was speechless. There were so many things wrong with that statement, I didn’t know where to begin. I thought Linda was cunning, but it turned out she had taken every one of my ridiculous lies to heart.

I decided to just head into Myron’s office and give my report.

Myron already knew everything. Dressed in a cozy beige sweater, his curly hair perfectly coiffed, he looked handsome and relaxed, but his peach-blossom eyes were practically sparkling with gossip as he stared at me.

“Steven must have figured out who you are today, right? York said you two stayed behind to talk. Any new developments?”

Looking at his meticulously styled hair and gleaming eyes, I offered a sincere suggestion. “Myron, you should have been a paparazzo. You’d have an endless supply of fresh gossip, all firsthand.”

The smile on his handsome face froze. “Hmph. I’m not curious about everyone. Only Steven.”

“You have his number. Go ask him yourself.”

“No way. If you two had a fight, calling him now would be suicide.”

I never realized in my past life what a coward Myron was around Steven. My memory of him was faint, but I recalled him as a glamorous playboy who, despite his antics, eventually took Star Corp. to new heights.

“You’re the heir to a powerful family,” I said disdainfully. “Why do you act like Steven’s lackey?”

Myron’s eyes narrowed, and he became serious. “That’s not right. Steven and I are equals. But sometimes, you just don’t cross him. When he didn’t know who you were, I could gloat and not worry about him settling the score later. When you two were fighting about the divorce, I could enjoy the drama. But when he gets serious, the best thing to do is shut up and apologize.”

He leaned forward. “Steven has the highest tolerance of anyone I know. He rarely gets truly angry. He has a sharp tongue and likes to argue, but he often loses those little spats. He’s the quiet, brooding type, you’ve probably noticed. If you do something to annoy him, a couple of kisses might smooth things over. But if you keep pushing him, he might seem fine on the surface, just bottling it up. But one day, he’ll explode. And when he does, he’s absolutely ruthless. He won’t show any mercy; he’ll just rip everything out by the roots.”
