Chapter 124 Little Rivalries
The Morris family had been spoiling their children for enerations.
In a home where everyone doted on the little ones, Lucien was far from a well-behaved child.
If someone upset him or if he decided he didn’t like someone, he really knew how to make trouble.
Frank had just been blasted by Lucien’s cold tone. After hose harsh words, he finally walked away.
He headed straight toward William.
Lucien watched his back and let out a short snort. “He’s going to complain.”

He didn’t even need to follow him. Lucien could already predict exactly what Frank would do, and he didn’t care at all.
Lucien had grown up with so much love that he carried a kind of unshakeable confidence. He knew that even if Frank complained, Vincent and William were not the kind of people who would blindly take Frank’s side.
And if Frank dared to lie about him, Lucien would make sure to deal with him next time.
“Lucien, no pull me,” Nina said.
Lucien said, “Then stop playing with the water. Let’s go ride my little car.
“My brother just bought me a cooler one.
“Come on. I’ll take you.”
Nina lit up with excitement. “Okay!”
Now that there was a little car to ride, she finally stopped splashing around in the water.
Lucien held her hand, but they had barely walked two steps when Nina stopped again.
“Lucien, carry me,” she said.
Morris Villa was huge, and Nina did not want to walk all the way to the little car.
She wanted Lucien to carry her there.
There were nannies and gardeners around, but Nina didn’t want any of them. She wrapped her arms around Lucien’s leg and insisted that only Lucien could carry her.
Lucien glanced helplessly between chubby Nina and his own skinny arms.
Just when he was about to admit defeat and say he couldn’t lift her, Nina started showering him with praise.
“Lucien, you best! I yike you! Sank you, Lucien!”
She even thanked him in advance. After that, no refusal could come out of Lucien’s mouth.
He gritted his teeth and surrendered completely. “Fine. Il carry you.”

He bent down, braced himself, and used every bit of strength he had to lift Nina up.
She was heavy.
Amelia had complained many times about how heavy she was.
And Lucien, still just a first grader, could barely lift her.
Nina knew she was heavy, so the moment he picked her up, she cupped his face with both hands.
“No heavy! No heavy!”
She knew the word heavy.

Back at her apartment complex, other parents would sometimes lift her up and say how heavy she was.
She had heard “heavy” so many times that she knew it meant she was chubby.
And she hated hearing it.
So she held Lucien’s face and used her tiny voice to brainwash him into believing she wasn’t heavy at all.
Lucien’s face was flushed from the effort.
But with Nina whispering in his ear over and over, his hidden strength suddenly exploded. He actually managed to carry her all the way to the little car.
Once he put Nina down, Lucien looked at his arms.
They were shaking.
He sighed, “Nina, you… Never mind. I’d better eat more for dinner tonight.”
He rubbed his sore arms, then climbed into the little car and started it up.
While they were enjoying the ride, Frank had already returned to William.
He sat down right beside William. “Grandpa William.”
Then he leaned his small head against William’s shoulder.
“What is it?” William asked, puzzled. “Where’s Nina? Weren’t you playing with Nina and Lucien?”
Frank stayed silent, pressed against him like he had suffered some great injustice.
William cared about him, so when he saw Frank actingke this, he couldn’t help but ask a few more times.
After several gentle questions, Frank finally spoke. His voice was muffled. “Nina and Lucien don’t like me.”
William’s hand, which had been resting on the boy’s shoulder, paused.
“They wouldn’t play with you?” he asked, unsure.
Frank nodded. His tone was still low.
“Maybe I’m just not someone people like.”
