Chapter 128 Playtime After the Nightmare
After Amelia had soothed her for a while, Nina sniffled, poking less scared.
Nina spoke in broken sentences, her recounting of the dream jumbled and messy, but Amelia could understand.
She could even translate everything Nina wanted to express.
“Benjamin, Nina dreamed about riding in a car. William and Ryan were going in the car.
“She cried and wanted to go too.
“William picked her up and let her ride in the car, but didn’t let Ryan in.
“The car exploded, Nina and William…”
Amelia didn’t finish the last part, but Benjamin knew already.
Nina kept emphasizing “really” as she recounted her dream.
She insisted the dream wasn’t fake-it was real.
After finishing, she was now surrounded by her parents.
She wasn’t scared anymore, so she started playing with the sprinkler truck.
Nina pushed the sprinkler truck across the bed, pouting as she voiced the truck’s “sound effects.”
After a while, she found it wasn’t fun anymore.

“Mommy,” Nina called, then pushed the sprinkler truck with her tiny hands to bump into her mom’s legs.
The mischievous Nina had reappeared. Amelia suppressed a flood of emotions, letting herself fall onto the bed with a thud, saying to little troublemaker Nina, “Ah, Mommy got knocked over by you.”
Nina saw her mom fall and burst into giggles.
She laughed, then pushed the sprinkler truck at Benjamin.
Benjamin didn’t move.
Seeing him stay still, Nina didn’t give up. She giggled and kept pushing the truck at him several times.
This palm-sized sprinkler truck was far too light to knock anyone down.
Benjamin lowered his gaze at the tiny truck repeatedly humping him, his handsome face showing no reaction at all.
Amelia noticed that Nina had stopped laughing.
Nina furrowed her brows, pushing the red sprinkler truck with both hands, looking very serious.
She was determined.
If she didn’t manage to knock Benjamin over today, she might just get upset with herself.

Amelia knew Nina’s stubborn streak very well.
“Ahem, Nina, come play with Mommy.” Amelia tried to redirect Nina’s attention.
Nina shook her head, already fuming. “No!”

Nina insisted on playing with Benjamin. Seeing this little stubborn one getting worked up, Amelia had to shake Benjamin’s arm a little.
“Benjamin, humor her a bit.
“She just finished crying. Try to make her happy now, please,” Amelia pleaded softly, doting on her freshly crying daughter.
Benjamin listened, paused for two seconds, and expressionlessly leaned back.
When Amelia leaned back, she even added a little voiceover for herself, saying something playful to Nina.
Benjamin leaned back-just a lean. Nothing else.
Amelia sighed inwardly.
Sometimes she really suspected Benjamin was a machine loaded with countless programs.
He could follow instructions and do anything.
But he had no feelings at all!
Amelia sighed, but spoke aloud, “Wow, Daddy got knocked over by Nina too! Nina, you’re so amazing!”
Amelia spoke for Benjamin, trying to cheer Nina, but Nina was unimpressed.
She clutched her sprinkler truck, frowning at Benjamin clumsy act.
Amelia cut in, “Hey, Nina, come see Mommy.
“Let’s change your clothes and go to the living room to lay, okay?
“Which clothes do you want to wear?”
Amelia didn’t really hope that Benjamin would play with Nina.
She pushed Nina down, removed her diaper, and put on little shorts.
She said, “We’re staying home this afternoon, so no diaper. Nina, if you need to pee, tell Mommy, okay?”
