Chapter 483 Nina Is Having a Dream

Nina babbled nonstop while she ate her cookie.

She told Barry everything she could remember from her time abroad.

Her stories were out of order and made no sense at all.

One second, she talked about bad guys trying to take her, and the next, she rambled about Anya, who could blow bubbles.

She just said whatever popped into her head.

Her words were messy and jumbled, but Barry listened closely the whole time.

Barry said softly, “Nina, drink water.”

He picked up his small water bottle and held it for Nina to drink.

Nina took a few big gulps, then went right back to chattering.

She rambled on and on, but Barry never got annoyed.

Soon enough, Amelia and Lily came back with dinner.

The whole group ate together, and Barry even volunteered to feed Nina.

He loved feeding her.

Nina opened her mouth wide and ate the food Barry gave her.

Barry had lost so much weight, and there were dark, bruised needle marks on the back of his hand. Seeing him like this, Nina ate quietly and didn’t hesitate to swallow her food.

Barry wasn’t good at feeding others-he was just a kid, after all, and his hands weren’t as steady as an

adult’s.

But Nina didn’t complain at all.

Once Nina finished eating, she pointed at the plate and gestured for Barry to eat.

Barry then ate a whole big plate of food quickly.

By the time they finished eating, it was completely dark outside.

Amelia hesitated and glanced at Nina. Before she could say anything, Benjamin walked over and said gently, “You and Nina should stay here tonight. Nathan and I will take the guest room next door. I’ll go home and get your change of clothes, then come right back.”

Benjamin knew exactly what Nina was like.

There was no way Nina would leave that night.

He returned to the ward, his voice weak and shaky.

Barry asked Nina to sleep with him.

Nina’s eyes filled with tears when she saw how weak Barry was.

She climbed into bed, wrapped her arms around Barry, and lay down with him.

Nina didn’t need any adults to tuck her in that night.

She didn’t play with toys or ask for a bedtime story.

Her chubby little hands held onto Barry’s pajamas. She closed her eyes and fell asleep right beside him.

When Amelia checked on them later, both kids were fast asleep.

She grabbed a warm towel and gently wiped Nina’s face.

There were tear stains on Nina’s cheeks-she had been crying earlier.

Looking at the two sleeping children, Amelia told Lily to go wash up and rest.

The mood in the ward was heavy and tense.

But Amelia couldn’t do anything to make this better.

Time ticked by slowly. Once the kids fell asleep, the adults tidied up and got some rest, too.

In the middle of the night, Nina suddenly had a nightmare.

She dreamed that Barry was really dead, lying inside a tiny coffin.

Nina was heartbroken.

She wailed loudly, begging Barry not to die.
