Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 484

Chapter 484 Had a Little Hope

He took Nina from Amelia’s arms and kept trying to wake her.

Nina’s crying also woke up Barry.

Barry rubbed his eyes, his pale little face filled with worry.

He asked softly, “Mommy, what’s wrong with Nina?”

Lily replied, “I don’t know. She must have had a scare.”

As she spoke, Lily pulled Barry into her arms to comfort him.

The crying in the ward went on for quite a while.

When Benjamin finally got Nina to wake up, she opened her eyes, saw him, and let out two more sobs.

Benjamin said gently, “Don’t cry. Tell Daddy what happened.”

He knew Nina had a bad dream. He carried her into the room he’d just stayed in.

Amelia grabbed a few bags of snacks and some toys and followed them.

She said, “Stay here with Barry. Benjamin and I will go next door to calm Nina down. Nathan, you should come, too.”

Amelia had a feeling Nina’s nightmare was about Barry.

That was why she asked Nathan to join them.

Soon, Nina sat in Benjamin’s arms, holding a toy in her small hands, and eating cookies Amelia fed her.

Surrounded by Benjamin, Amelia, and Nathan, she sniffled and told them about her dream.

Nina babbled, “Bad Mia. Barry die. No drink.”

She told her dream in broken words, and Benjamin and Amelia understood every bit of it.

Once they figured out what she’d said, they explained the dream to Nathan.

When Nathan heard it was all Mia’s doing, his eyes burned with anger.

Nathan growled, “How dare she? How dare she hurt Barry?”

After Mia was kicked out of the Wilson family and punished by them, she seemed to calm down for a while.

She hadn’t caused any more trouble and had even started doing charity work, or so they heard.

Since she’d appeared to behave, the Wilson family had left her alone.

But Nathan never could have guessed her calm was all an act.

Deep down, she’d hated the Wilson family this entire time.

Benjamin said firmly, “Nathan, find her right now. Find out what she put in Barry’s drink.”

He told Nathan to track Mia down.

Nathan held back his burning hatred and left to find Mia’s address.

Once he was gone, Benjamin turned back to comforting Nina.

Nina leaned against Benjamin, tilted her chubby little face up, and asked, “Daddy, Barry die?”

Benjamin bent down and stroked her cheek softly. He promised, “Barry isn’t going to die. Barry is gonna get all better.”

Nina nodded and believed him.

It was still the middle of the night. After calming Nina down, Amelia coaxed her to go back to sleep.

Nina was soothed for a long while before she finally fell asleep in Amelia’s arms.

Amelia didn’t put her back next to Barry.

She wasn’t sure if Nina would start crying again.

Barry was sick and needed proper rest.

That night, Nina had caused quite a commotion-but through it all, they’d found out who was really behind Barry’s illness.

Amelia looked at Barry’s thin little face.

She just hoped they could save Barry once they found Mia.

Nathan was extremely efficient.

He found Mia quickly and forced her to confess what she’d slipped into Barry’s drink.

It was a biological virus taken from a lab, and it had been discovered in an ancient ruin.

How to cure it was still a difficult problem.

But now the adults had a lead-and that meant they had a little hope.

The grown-ups worked hard to help Barry, and Nina stayed by his side in the ward the whole time.

Nina was usually a kid who couldn’t stay still. But for Barry, she stayed inside the ward for hours on end.

She didn’t beg to go outside.

Even though she didn’t fuss, Amelia still persuaded her to leave for a while.

She said gently, “Barry needs his treatment, Nina. Why don’t you go to Sunbeam Daycare to play with the other kids for a bit?”

Lester had flown back from abroad with a top medical team.

Barry was about to start treatment and wouldn’t have much free time to spend with Nina.

Even if Nina waited in the ward, she wouldn’t get to see Barry much.

Nina looked down and let Amelia carry her away quietly.

Amelia didn’t send her to Sunbeam Daycare right away. She waited one more day before taking her there.

She said, “All the kids at Sunbeam Daycare miss you a lot.
