Chapter 64 Trouble at the Door

“She’s faking it.” Mia was shaking with rage. “She did it on purpose to play the victim! Don’t let her fool you.”

She opened her mouth to keep yelling, but one of her friends grabbed her arm.

He tried to talk her round. “That’s enough. Mia, just go home first. Let Aaron cool off a little.”

Anyone with eyes could see that the way Aaron was looking at Mia, he looked ready to tear her apart.

Being told to leave made Mia lose face. She stood there stubbornly, refusing to move.

She insisted, “You want me gone? Fine. Let Aaron say it. As long as he says the word, I’ll—”

“Get out.” Aaron cut her off, face ice-cold, exactly what she asked for. “Get the hell out! As of today, you are never welcome here again!”

Mia’s mask finally cracked. “Fine! Like I care about your stupid place anyway!” she snapped.

She stormed off, and barely two steps in, she nearly crashed into Amelia, who was walking in with Lucien.

After locking his precious car, Lucien had realized Nina had already vanished inside. He was going to follow, but his nearly non-existent social sense suddenly kicked in for once.

He turned around and brought Amelia with him.

Since Nina had gone in to look for Aaron, he couldn’t leave Nina’s mom waiting outside alone.

Feeling surprisingly clever, Lucien led Amelia inside.

On the way, he managed to sell Aaron out one more time.

Amelia wasn’t sure whether to believe him or not.

They walked side by side, and the moment they stepped in, they saw Nina still throwing up.

Amelia’s face changed instantly.

“Nina!” she called out and rushed over.

Nina saw her and burst into tears, calling for her mom while retching.

Aaron explained right away, “Amelia, you’re here. Nina was pushed to the ground, and then she started throwing up.

“I don’t know what happened. Come on, we should take her to the hospital.”

Aaron’s hands and shirt were a mess, but he didn’t mind at all.

When Amelia gave birth, he and Megan stayed with her at the hospital.

The diapers Nina wore right after she was born, the milk she drank-these two had taken turns changing and warming everything.

Amelia didn’t rush to the hospital-she let Nina finish throwing up before checking what she’d vomited.

One look, and Amelia felt both angry and heartbroken.

She said, a little helplessly, “Nina, you sneaked snacks.”

If this had happened on a normal day, Amelia would have lectured her right away.

But Nina looked miserable, and Amelia didn’t have the heart to be strict.

She wiped Nina’s face, then pulled spare clothes from her backpack to dress Nina in them.

While she was dressing Nina in her shirt, Aaron told everyone to turn around.

Soon enough, Amelia finished cleaning Nina up and carried her in her arms.

She looked at Aaron and sneered, “Aaron-no, should I be calling you Mr. Wade?

“Megan asked me to bring you this surprise gift. And these are the gifts from Nina and me.

“There’s nothing expensive. Mr. Wade, if you don’t like—”

“Amelia, I like them,” Aaron cut her off. There was a trace of unease in his eyes. “Amelia, about my background, actually…”

“You can explain it to Megan yourself.”

Amelia didn’t want to keep talking to him.

The watch on his wrist alone could cover several years of Megan’s wages.

He wasn’t short of money.

He had been pretending to be poor.

She ignored Aaron completely and left quickly with Nina in her arms.

As she walked off, Mia was still standing there, staring after her.

So this woman is Nina’s mother. She is the one who had a child with Benjamin.
