Chapter 74 Nina Wants Everyone

So Benjamin could only reason with her and tell her it wouldn’t work.

But once Nina threw a fit, she never listened.

She cried nonstop, making William ache with distress.

William cooed, “Nina, Grandpa will go home soon.

“When Grandpa gets home, I’ll hold you, okay?

“Grandpa is coming back soon, sweetheart.”

William had been a father for years, but none of his own kids were ever this clingy with him.

Now that he was a grandpa, he finally knew what it felt like to be adored.

It made him feel both incredibly happy and a little sore in his heart.

“Grandpa… back! I want Grandpa!”

Nina stretched her chubby hands toward the phone and pressed the screen against her round cheek, wanting to rub against her grandpa.

William couldn’t feel her soft little face through the screen, and in that moment, he truly wished he could fly back home right away.

The two of them stayed on video for quite a while.

Nina eventually cried herself tired. She sat on Benjamin’s leg, leaning back against him.

Benjamin tossed the phone aside after ending the call.

“Do you want water?” he asked.

He grabbed the bottle and tried to give Nina a drink again.

Amelia had told him to let Nina drink more water, and he had taken the advice seriously,

Nina sucked twice, then pushed the straw away. “No. I want Mommy!”

After Grandpa, Nina wanted her mom next.

Benjamin knew Amelia was working, so he definitely couldn’t take Nina to her.

He said, “Your mom will pick you up after work. You stay with Daddy now.”

Benjamin felt he was already being patient and gentle with Nina.

But to Nina, he still didn’t feel that close. Her affection for him wasn’t anywhere near what she felt for her

mom.

“Nina means she wants to be where she can see me without bothering me. I used to take her with me when I worked. She was really very well-behaved.

“You’re busy, so don’t bring her over. I’ll ask Sadie to bring her to me instead.

“Sadie used to help me watch Nina.”

The Sadie Staggs, she mentioned, was a very laid-back girl.

She hated working and spent most of her time at home.

Her living costs were low, and she had enough savings. Even so, she still liked picking up quick, easy jobs.

Amelia had known Sadie for years.

Sadie used to watch Nina for her, and Amelia paid her.

Their arrangement was stable and peaceful.

After sending Benjamin the voice message, Amelia messaged Sadie next.

Sadie replied instantly, “Finally! I thought you weren’t gonna hire me to watch Nina anymore. And I saw you got famous!”

Amelia’s “fame” came entirely from trending topics.

Her workload hadn’t actually grown that much.

Her company did want to shove a mountain of jobs at her to make quick money.

But before they could do that, Amelia got injured. So the profit plan had to be put on hold.

These days, Amelia was still filming while recovering.
