“The toys are off work. You can’t watch them now,” Amelia said as she started to put the phone away.
While the phone was moving, its bright screen accidentally swung in front of Benjamin’s eyes.
He only glanced casually, but he still saw the WhatsApp chat list on her screen.
At the very top was a pinned conversation-her only pinned contact-marked with a tiny heart emoji.
That intimate little note made Benjamin’s expression sink immediately.
Amelia said, “Nina, stop fussing. Mommy’s going to get mad.
“What kind of kid watches TV nonstop?
“If you watch too much TV, your eyes will stop working. Nina wants to be a little blind mouse?”
Amelia held onto her phone, fully focused on handling her little daughter.
Nina, who couldn’t get the phone or the show she wanted, pursed her lips in frustration.
“No crying. If you cry, we’re not going out to play,” Amelia warned.
Nina sniffled, looked at her mom, then suddenly turned around and buried her face in her dad’s leg, refusing to move.
Benjamin stared at the top of the little head pressed against him, a bit confused. Amelia leaned closer and whispered, “She’s sulking. Just leave her be.”
Benjamin said, “Okay.”
Sulking Nina kept her face buried in her dad’s leg the whole way and didn’t say a word.
. Amelia glanced over and couldn’t help laughing, “When she’s like this, I finally get some peace.”
She let Nina stay mad until the car was about to stop. Only then did she pick Nina up and coax her gently, “Alright, Nina, Mommy has to go to work.
“You need to behave, okay? Mommy will play with you when she gets off.”
Amelia kissed Nina’s soft cheek while telling her she had to work.
Nina was already used to Mommy going to work.
She wasn’t mad anymore.
She rubbed her cheek against Amelia’s face and waved sweetly. “Bye, Mommy!”
Then she added, “Mommy, buy bulldozer.”

Chapter 97 Nina Gets Angry
Nina could tell bulldozers apart from all other toys. She knew what she wanted.
Amelia pinched her chubby check and laughed, “Okay. Mommy will buy you a bulldozer after work.”
After clinging to Nina a little longer, she realized time was running late and finally got out of the car.
The car didn’t drive off immediately.
Nina pressed her little face to the window to look at Amelia a bit longer.
And right at that moment, she saw Leo walking out to find Amelia.
He snapped, “Amelia, why are you only arriving now?! Do you know how long I’ve been waiting?
“You’re not even famous yet, and you’re already acting like a diva?
“If people hear about this, you’ll get torn apart online again!”
Leo was very good at tearing people down.

First, he gave her a harsh scolding to assert dominance. Then he would offer a tiny bit of “company favor” as if it were a reward.
Finally, he would remind her to obey the company.
It was a complete, standard manipulation routine.
And while Leo was still on step one of his process, little Nina-still pressed to the window-saw everything.
Although she was far from Amelia, watching that man talk to Mommy made her angrier and angrier. She tugged at the car door with all her strength.
