The mention of Claudia's name made York's chest tighten.

He was the one who had bought all those things for Claudia. She hadn't kept a single item, sending them all back untouched.

York's mood instantly soured. He sat back down in his office chair and picked up a file.

Mark knocked and entered. After a polite greeting to Darleen, he approached York's desk.

Mark opened an envelope, took out a stack of cash, and placed it respectfully on the desk. "Mr. Ferguson, Mr. Quinn has booked a private room at The Imperial Club tonight and would like to meet with you. This is the money he gave me as a bribe."

York, still looking at the file in his hand, gestured toward the cash. "Since he gave it to you, you can keep it."

Having worked for York for some time, Mark understood his methods. By saying that, the boss was agreeing to the meeting.

Around eight that evening, York and Peter left the Ferguson Mansion for The Imperial Club.

In the back of the luxury car, York glanced at Peter beside him. "You seem to be visiting the Ferguson Mansion more often than I do these days."

Peter shot York a smug look. "You should thank me. I just managed to talk your grandfather around today. He agreed to tell your father to stop interfering with your decisions at the company."

York sized him up. "You certainly have a way with words."

Peter grinned from ear to ear. "Of course."
