His conviction made many guests start to believe him. They’d heard rumors that the second daughter of the Whitewood Family had once lived in the chaotic slums of the western outskirts, a place rife with crime and known as a haven for thugs. It wasn’t easy for a young girl to survive alone there.

Evelyn was momentarily taken aback. She doubted his words but wasn’t sure how to counter him. If she followed his lead and asked him questions, it would only serve to reinforce his claim of a close relationship with Seraphina.

Noticing her hesitation, Jason, who had remained silent until now, spoke up in a steady voice. “None of that proves anything. Evelyn has only known Seraphina for a few months, but she also knows what she likes to eat, her favorite colors, and her little habits.”

Evelyn nodded in agreement, silently admiring Jason’s quick thinking.

“Exactly! If that’s all it takes, then I guess I’m Seraphina’s man, too!” she huffed, her voice indignant.

A ripple of laughter broke out around them, amused by her bold declaration, especially with her earnest expression and chubby face.

“You’re just here because you’re attracted to her beauty,” she muttered, unfazed by the laughter.

Just then, security arrived, and Oberon barked, “Get him out of here!”

“You think denying it changes anything?” Elvis shouted. “Whether you admit it or not, Seraphina is my woman.”

Oberon’s patience had worn thin. With a glance, he instructed the butler to silence Elvis, not wanting to hear another word from him.
