“Yes,” his chief assistant responded without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Seraphina, preoccupied with figuring out how to scrape together five million dollars, was entirely unaware of the brewing storm that almost undermined her position.

As she made her way upstairs, Jasmine was carrying a tray. Just then, Chloe crossed her path. “What’s that you’re carrying?” she asked.
“These are gifts from the Thomson, Gardner, and Hart Families. Miss Seraphina asked me to ‘deliver them.”
Chloe’s gaze lingered on the items Jasmine held. Each one was of extraordinary value. “Hand them over to me. Tell her that I’ll safeguard them for her.”
Jasmine hesitated, clearly unsure.
“What’s wrong? Does my word not hold weight anymore?” Chloe’s voice, previously soft, suddenly turned cold and sharp.
“Okay.”
Reluctantly, Jasmine handed over the items.
Just then, Seraphina’s bedroom door swung open. Her sharp eyes caught sight of the gifts in Chloe’s hands.
“Jasmine, how could you let Mrs. Whitewood deliver my things for me?” Seraphina strode toward Chloe with a calm but pointed air.
Chloe smiled. “These are valuable. It’s better if I keep them safe for you.”
“No need,” Seraphina replied lightly. “I’m not a child. If I can’t handle these little things, how will I survive in society?”
She reached out her hand.
Chloe didn’t budge. “You don’t need these just yet. Those paintings and antiques are delicate and can’t be left lying around. If they get damaged, they’ll lose all their value. Your father loves these kinds of things, so I’ll keep them with him for a few days. He can appreciate them, and you’ll get them back later.”
Seraphina chuckled softly, though her eyes turned icy. She stepped closer, leaning in until her lips brushed near Chloe’s ear. In a low, venomous murmur, she whispered, “Are you worried your precious daughter has it too easy?”

It was an open threat.
Chloe froze, staring at her in shock.
“Since you like them so much, you can keep them,” Seraphina said, taking a step back and flashing a chilling, eerie smile.
Without another word, she turned and walked away.
Shaken by the unnerving smile, Chloe stammered, “I–I was only joking.”
She quickly handed the items back to Jasmine. “Hurry and deliver these to Miss Seraphina.”
Jasmine nodded and hurried off to follow Seraphina.
That evening, as the couple lay in bed, Oberon was in an unusually good mood. He glanced at his wife, who looked troubled, and casually asked, “What’s on your mind?”
