Chapter 149 It’s You!

What doesn’t belong to Yvette could never be hers. Frankie shook his head.
After completing what Yvette entrusted him to do, he left Jason’s office.
It was a sunny afternoon. A gentle breeze brushed past the pedestrians on the streets.
A disheveled figure exited the police station.
The stubbled man reeked of sweat. He still wore the same wrinkled uniform.

He was none other than Elvis, who crashed Seraphina’s birthday party but was lastly taken to the police station. Since it wasn’t a serious offense, he was released after a few days.
Hatred was written all over his face. He turned around and spat on the ground outside the station. “D*mn. What bad luck.”
After his release, he returned to the slums to find Yvonne.
Upon spotting him walk toward her, she turned and ran.
He was faster. He caught up with her in a few strides and blocked her path. “Where are you going?”
Frightened, she kept backing away. “What do
you want?”
“Nothing. I’m just here to collect the rest of the payment. It’s time to give me the remaining money.”
“You failed the task, so those rich girls didn’t pay me. I don’t have money to pay you.” She cowered in the corner and looked at him with fear.
“I don’t care. I did what you told me to do. It doesn’t concern me if the mission failed. I was held in police custody because of you. You must compensate me for the mental anguish I suffered in the past few days,” he demanded.
“I have no money. Find them if you want money! I’ll call the police immediately if you hurt me!” she warned.
“Call the police?” He sneered. Suddenly, he stepped forward and grabbed her hair. He yanked it and shoved her to the ground before stepping on her body, threatening, “Don’t think I won’t hurt you. Ready twenty thousand by next month, or else, you’ll regret it.”
Then, he withdrew his foot and strolled away.

Chapter 147 11’s You!

Once he was out of sight. Yvonne finally struggled to climb to her feet. Her eyes were red with fear and fury.
Seraphina, it’s all your fault! She gritted her teeth and cursed.
After Elvis celebrated his release with his friends, the drunk man staggered down the alley with a bottle of beer in his hand. He hummed an unnamed tone chirpily, occasionally taking a sip of the beer.
Feeling his bladder full to bursting, he relieved himself in a corner. Before he left, he felt as if he was being watched. He involuntarily turned to look behind him, but all he saw was a dark, empty alley.
Paying it no mind, he turned to face ahead and began to walk.
Before he could make it far, the feeling of a piercing gaze on his back crept up on him again.
He snapped his head back, but the alley remained empty. There was nobody behind him.
“Who’s there?” he shouted, attempting to intimidate the invisible person.
His voice bounced off the walls and echoed throughout the dim valley. His question remained unanswered by anyone.
“This is freaking me out,” he muttered.
