Chapter 250 Avoiding the Snare
As Seraphina slid into the car, her phone buzzed with a new message.
It was Shane who wrote, ‘I apologize for last time. Are you available tomorrow? My treat!‘
Since New Year’s, Shane had gone entirely off the radar after their encounter at Sebastian’s. His phone had been off, and no one seemed to know where he’d disappeared. Now, out of nowhere, he was inviting her to meet.
Seraphina asked, ‘Are you okay?‘
Shane replied, ‘I’m fine.‘
Seraphina typed back, ‘I’m free tomorrow. You decide the time and place. But this time, it’s on
me.‘
She couldn’t let him foot the bill. Shane had discreetly kept tabs on Sebastian for her and regularly sent updates. It didn’t sit right with her to let him treat her after all that.
Shane replied, ‘The Parlour, 7 p.m. Don’t be late.‘
Back at the Whitewood Residence, Seraphina noticed Linara sitting outside with Chloe. It was the first time she’d seen Linara out in days. From afar, their mannerisms were uncannily alike— every tilt of the head and flick of the hand mirrored perfectly.
While their faces were entirely distinct, their shared demeanor spoke volumes.
I guess that’s what happens when you spend so much time together, Seraphina thought with a wry smile.
Linara whispered something to Chloe as she approached, then rose and strode toward her.
“Seraphina,” Linara called out, her tone low and sharp.
Seraphina turned, her gaze icy. “What do you want?”
Linara stopped a step away and leaned in close to whisper, “It was you, wasn’t it? You were behind everything that happened last time. You drugged me with something.”
She was certain. Even when drunk, she never lost control like that. No one else in this house would dare pull something like that–except Seraphina.
Seraphina raised an eyebrow, her voice calm and composed. “I’m not sure what you mean. You’re the one who couldn’t handle your drinks. Or was that just an excuse? Maybe you’re genuinely developing feelings for Aidan.”

“Don’t be ridiculous! He’s my brother!” Linara’s face twisted in anger. She thought, Even if Aidan is only my brother in name, I wouldn’t fall for him—not even if I were desperate.
“Oh, is he?” Seraphina said, her smile sly. “That might be how you see it, but can you say same for him? I saw him that day, Linara. That kiss wasn’t something he wanted to let

As Seraphina walked away, Linara’s grip tightened around the recorder hidden in her pocket. She had hoped to trap Seraphina into admitting something, anything–but instead, she’d been outplayed.
“Seraphina!” Linara hissed through gritted teeth, watching her disappear into the house.
