The Betrayed Princess Rising (Lylah and Ezra) novel Chapter 444

Chapter 444

3rd Person’s POV

With the pointed look Seraphina cast toward Lylah, the meaning behind her words became immediately

clear.

Several students exchanged uneasy glances.

“I’m not interested in competing over something so trivial,” Seraphina continued with a careless shrug. though the bitterness in her scent betrayed her calm facade. “We came here with responsibilities, didn’t we? I’m not about to abandon sick villagers just because I want to cling to Sir Knight’s side.”

Her lips curved faintly.

“Unlike someone.”

The hypocrisy would have been laughable if the tension in the room hadn’t already thickened like storm clouds.

Only yesterday, Seraphina had thrown herself forward the moment Jude Knight’s name was mentioned. Now she spoke as though she had nobly stepped aside out of virtue.

One of her friends quickly caught her arm, guiding her farther from the others while lowering her voice.

“You should be careful, Seraphina,” the she-wolf whispered urgently. “Lylah is Alpha Ezra’s mate. The Luna of Moonclaw. Picking a fight with her is dangerous.”

Seraphina rolled her eyes, entirely unimpressed.

“And what? It’s not like she can simply get rid of me because she dislikes me. I’m High Dean Peter Blackmaw’s niece.”

Her wolf bristled with pride beneath her skin “Lylah isn’t untouchable.”

Ever since arriving in Lunera Valley, Seraphina’s irritation had only worsened. She noticed the way their mentor, Tessalonika, favored Lylah. The approving glances from other senior healers. Even the students seemed unconsciously drawn toward Lylah’s presence.

It infuriated her.

Especially because Lylah never even appeared to notice it.

“If she didn’t have Alpha Ezra standing behind her, what would she even be?” Seraphina muttered coldly. “Nothing. Just Cora’s jealous sister. Adopted. Wolves born/with nothing are always the greediest once they taste power.”

The memory of her conversation with Cora resurfaced sharply.

That morning, just before the departure, Cora had come to Lunar Grace.

The bruises on Cora’s face were fading, but not enough. Powder concealed them poorly, and pride even less.

Chapter 444

“I heard I’ll be assigned to the same team as Lylah,” Seraphina had said while adjusting the sleeves of her blue coat. “Honestly, I still resent her for winning first place in the Paper competition.” A sneer curled at her lips, “But out there, first place won’t mean a thing.”

Cora’s expression had twisted instantly at the mention of Lylah.

“Just be careful,” she warned bitterly. “She acts calm and innocent, but she’s far worse beneath the surface Everything happening to me now…” Her nails dug into her palms. “It’s because of her.”

“It’s because you failed to get rid of her sooner, Cora,” Seraphina had said confidently then. If you’d crushed her before she gained Alpha Ezra, Professor Grimwood, or Commander Ivar’s protection, none of this would be happening now.”

She still remembered the way Cora’s expression twisted at those words-resentment, humiliation, helpless fury.

Seraphina had looked at her friend almost pityingly.
